The social-networking website Facebook has launched in Swahili, targeting more than 110m speakers of the language.
A group of Swahili scholars launched the new version with the permission of the California-based internet firm. Swahili is the second African language after Afrikaans to be on Facebook.
We could not find a direct method on our facebook Language setting page (hopefully that is coming soon)
but this is how we went around it.
- Go to http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/translations/
- Allow this application (Translation) to apply to your Profile.
- As soon as applied, U will see a page with world map and on the right-hand side you will see a drop-down for language (similar to Settings->Language page)
- Here you will see Kiswahili as a drop-down, select it and voila!
- Now you are in Swahili Facebook (automatically) and you have to intelligently figure out options, such that, you can suggest and vote for suggested translation of menus, tabs used in Facebook.
I Bring What I Love is an uplifting, music-driven journey into the power of one man’s voice to inspire global change. The film unfolds an extraordinary moment in the life of Youssou N’dour — the best selling and most influential African artist of all time. Director Chai Vasarhelyi tracks N’dour’s emotional journey over two years– filming his ever-shifting life in Africa, Europe, and America as N’Dour a devout Sufi Muslim, releases a deeply personal and religious album called Egypt in the hope of promoting a more tolerant face of Islam. The resulting portrait is not just of an incomparable musician turning his spiritual quest into art, but also that of a brave new world in which pop culture now has equal power to incite fury and invite new connections.

Zap Mama is back! with this visually addictive video of her lead single “Hello to Mama” from her new album “ReCreation” out May 26th. The Source of Zap Mama’s (Born Marie Daulne) music includes her roots in Congo Kinshasa, her upbringing in Belgium, and her return to Africa to rediscover her musical roots.
I dedicate this to all the strong women out there, stay strong, fly and beautiful.
Zap Mama has a plan. The multicultural musical entity led by Afropean vocalist and songwriter Marie Daulne is sending everyone on vacation, and the first and only item on the itinerary is ReCreation, the new album set for worldwide release on May 26, 2009, on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group.
In addition to a rhythm section rooted in a rich Brazilian vibe, “ReCreation” boasts a guest list of high-profile vocalists including Bilal, G. Love, actor Vincent Cassel (La Haine, Ocean’s Twelve) and several others. The album offers everything the title suggests – a time to make a break, to renew, and to play.
